The Freedom Wall has stone plaques inscribed with documents
such as the Constitution, Declaration of Independence, Gettysburg Address
and others.
The Distinguished Flying Cross National Memorial is
a new addition to the museum courtyard. In 2009, California District 44
Congressman Kenneth S. Calvert introduced H.R. 2788 into the U.S. house of
Representatives " to desiginate a Distingusihed Flying Cross National Memorial
at the March Field Air Museum, Riverside,CA". Senator Barbara Boxer,CA
prepared a Companion bill for the U.S. Senate. The ground breaking
ceremony was held on April 30, 2010; the dedication ceremony was held on
October 27, 2010. Click here for more information
on the DFC National Memorial; it is still possible to have your name inscribed
on a tile, or bench or wall section.
Another part of the courtyard contains the War Dog
Memorial Sculpture with Heritage Tiles around the base commerating
both War Dogs and family canine memorials. Our museum
has been chosen by the War Dog Memorial Fund as the site for the West Coast
War Dog Memorial. The memorial honors all armed service dog handlers
and their teams and the important roles they played in all of America's combat
action. There is room for about 1000 inscribed tiles that are being
placed on the concrete surface around the sculpture. The museum is currently
taking orders for those who want to purchase these inscribed tiles. The price
is $50 for a tile with one line line or $75 for a tile with two lines. If
